MUSKEGON, Mich. — Recent numbers show more people are coming to Muskegon, both to visit and to live.

Many say they want a more "public-friendly" space on the downtown lakefront, and the city and county have been looking at Heritage Landing to serve that purpose.

“There's a lot of good picnic areas here already in the playground for the children. They've done really well. And then downtown is nice with all the restaurants,” says frequent biker Beth McClenaghan.

McClenaghan and other residents have noticed that the downtown lakefront area in Muskegon is becoming more and more popular.

That’s why both the city and county have been working for months on a plan to improve the lakefront and get more people to spend time there.
