LANSING, Mich. — After another long day of negotiations , the Michigan House has passed a bill funding its general government operations over the next year.

The bill , which passed by a wide bipartisan margin, would fund state departments and services, and is the large majority of the state's overall budget that lawmakers were still hoping to finish.

Legislators still have the school aid budget to pass, where it will be decided what level of funding the state's K-12 public education system will receive. It will also determine whether programs like universal, taxpayer-funded school meals will continue to have designated dollars.
