WINNSBORO, S.C. — The Winnsboro community celebrated the continued expansion of Fairfield County School District's teacher village. Dozens of community members gathered for the ceremony in the neighborhood that now holds 25 affordable housing units that are all occupied by Fairfield County educators.

The neighborhood was made possible through years of work by the Fairfield County Education Foundation in an effort to help retain educators by creating an affordable community that supports school district staff.

"We believe that this is the true answer to being able to provide the support that teachers really need to stay in the classroom," said Sue Rex, Chair Emeritus for the Fairfield County Education Foundation when talking about the impact of the village.
