Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, has moved the Supreme Court challenging her husband’s arrest under the National Security Act (NSA), seeking his immediate release. She said that she has not been able to contact him since his arrest on September 26.

In a habeas corpus petition, Angmo has sought his immediate release, terming the arrest illegal and a violation of norms under NSA.

Angmo has questioned the imposition of the NSA on Wangchuk and said that she has yet to receive a copy of the detention order, calling it a clear breach of procedure.

“I am yet to get a copy of his detention order. This is a violation of rules. I have had no contact with my husband since his detention,” she said.
