VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Teachers and staff who choose to sue the superintendent of schools over an increase in health insurance premiums must make their names public, a district court judge ruled Thursday.

It's a decision attorney Tim Anderson said will cause at least five of his clients to drop out of the lawsuit that aims at forcing Virginia Beach City Public Schools to pay down employee healthcare costs for at least one more school year.

More than 100 VBCPS employees initially sued Superintendent Dr. Don Robertson in August, arguing he “intentionally concealed the impending insurance premium increases” of more than 110%, until after they singed their contracts. The suit alleges it was done to “prevent a mass exodus of employees leaving VBCPS for other jobs."
