NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) announced Wednesday that the Free Application for Student Financial Aid, or FAFSA, has been opened for Tennessee students.

"Finishing your FAFSA is a crucial step for Tennessee students and families making college possible," said Dr. Steven Gentile, THEC Executive Director. "We encourage every student and family to take this first step, get started as soon as possible and access the financial aid available to them."

Prospective college students are required to complete the application form to access a number of financial aid programs, including Pell Grants, the Tennessee Promise scholarship, and the HOPE scholarship. Families will need financial documents such as tax returns and W-2 forms on hand while filling out the fo
