MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Thousands of Memphis families rely on the federal government to put a roof over their heads.
If the government shutdown goes on long enough, it will eventually impact Section 8 housing vouchers.
According to the Black Clergy Collaborative of Memphis, housing authorities will continue to receive payments from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through mid-November, at least.
"Make sure you're paying your portion of the rent in full and on time," advised Jamie Johnson, an attorney and executive director of the Memphis Public Interest Law Center.
