Residents in Edinburgh have been issued a yellow weather from the Met Office, as events are scrapped amid potential high winds of up to 50mph.

The warning comes into force at 6pm on Friday, lasting until 11.59pm on Saturday, October 4. Storm Amy is set to swoop across the UK, with potential damage to buildings , power cuts and roads and bridges set to close.

Guidance from the Met Office reads: "Storm Amy is likely lead to disruption during Friday and Saturday.

"Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen. Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

"Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible. Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto
