One of the smallest players in the field made the biggest noise in the second round of the LPGA’s Lotte Championship presented by Hoakalei on Thursday.

Youmin Hwang started off with an eagle and a birdie. Then she destroyed the back nine at Hoakalei Country Club, shooting a record-breaking 10-under-par 62. Her 15 under at the tournament’s midpoint gives her a three-stroke lead.

Hwang, 22, a sponsor’s exemption who usually plays on the Korean pro tour, set the single-round tournament record for the four years the Lotte has been played at Hoakalei. It tied Lizette Salas and Cristie Kerr, who shot their 62s when the tourney was played at Ko Olina.

“My life-best score,” said Hwang, who is listed at 5-feet-4 but looks shorter.
