LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky has largely missed the wave of hyper-scale data centers. These large warehouses hold servers and computers to store data for companies, and also power artificial intelligence.

Construction on Kentucky's first hyper-scale data center is currently underway in Louisville's Rubbertown neighborhood. Poe Companies, the developer, says it will open its first phase requiring 100 MW of electricity at the end of 2026. It will eventually require 400 MW of electricity when at full capacity.
According to LG&E, that equals 280,000 residential customers. LG&E had 411,000
