Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, is here and boy is she out to ruffle some feathers. Of particular note is track seven, “Actually Romantic,” a sneering retort to an unnamed antagonist whom fans speculate is Charli XCX. For one thing, there’s the name, which sounds a lot like one of Charli’s songs. Also: “I’ve heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave / High-fived my ex and then said you were glad he ghosted me / Wrote me a song sayin’ it makes you sick to see my face,” Swift sings.
Charli, famously, has suggested she loves coke and is married to The 1975’s George Daniel. His bandmate 1975 front man Matty Healy was Swift’s post–Joe Alwyn rebound in 2023 and the rumored subject of her last album, The Tortured Poets Department. So what on
