A woman died after stepping down from a station platform and being hit by moving train, an inquest has heard.
Elka Mikova Ivanova was killed during the morning rush hour on September 18 at Rainham Railway Station.
An inquest into the 41-year-old’s death opened today (Friday, October 3) at Oakwood House in Maidstone.
The court heard the driver of a non-stopping train, journeying from London to Faversham, saw Ms Ivanova standing on the edge of platform two.
As he approached, she stepped down into the train well. He sounded the horn and slammed on the brakes, but said Ms Ivanova made no attempt to get out of the way.
