HMRC has issued a £1,000 warning as some risk fines over a October 5 deadline. HMRC has reminded UK households to come forward and register for a Self Assessment return by October 5, assuming you satisfy the required conditions.
"Check if you need to register for #SelfAssessment for the first time by 5 October," HMRC wrote "You might need to if you: Have earned more than £1,000 through a side-hustle, are self-employed, [or] rent out a property. Find out more."
A guide from Which? previously clarified: "If you receive any other income - such as from self-employment, property, capital gains, or dividends - you need to report this to HMRC by sending a self-assessment tax return".
