TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Rensselaer County judge sentenced a Brooklyn man on Friday to 19 years in prison for multiple drug charges and leading police on a high-speed chase in November 2023. The Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office said a jury found Melquan L. Jordan, 35, guilty in August.

The jury found Jordan guilty of the charges listed above when he led New York State Police troopers on a high-speed chase from Schaghticoke to the Uncle Sam Bike Trail in Troy. Jordan fled on foot, carrying more than eight ounces of cocaine, according to the DA's office.

Court officials said Jordan crashed into a trooper patrol car, causing over $1,500 in damage to the vehicle. Assistant District Attorney Claire Hewitt and Chief Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lane prosecuted the case.
