SPARTANBURG, S.C. —

The Spartanburg County Police Department says they are investigating a sexual assault at Converse University.

Police say they responded to East Wood Street at Spartanburg Medical Center, in reference to a sexual assault call that occurred at East Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim regarding a reported sexual assault that took place in the parking lot of Converse University. Police say the victim stated that she met the suspect through a dating app, and that they had been communicating for a period of time prior to meeting in person.

Police say according to the victim, the assault occurred inside a vehicle while parked in the school’s parking lot.

Investigators with the Spartanburg Police Department are continuing to investigate this incident.
