NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Governor Bill Lee announced that a large public safety grant is now available to local communities around Tennessee.

Local leadership and law enforcement agencies can begin applying for two grant funds, totalling $175,000, earmarked for strengthening downtown public safety and supporting local law enforcement’s work to reduce violent crime.

The grants are the Violent Crime Intervention Fund ($75 million) and the Downtown Public Safety Grant Fund ($100 million, which were included in the state’s FY26 budget and approved by the Tennessee General Assembly.
