A school in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was locked down Friday afternoon because of an incident in the area, the school district said.
Goodrich Academy went into a shelter-in-place about 12:15 p.m., Fitchburg Public Schools said, without sharing details about the incident that prompted the lockdown, including where it was taking place.

"The school is following its protocols and working closely with law enforcement. Families should not come to the school at this time as it may interfere with the ability of the school to respond," the district said on Facebook.
Fitchburg police didn't immediately share information about an incident — it wasn't immediately clear if anyone was hurt.
