SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in a Salt Lake City crosswalk Friday morning, according to Salt Lake City Police.

At around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, police responded to an auto vs. pedestrian crash at 1950 West 500 South. The pedestrian was in the crosswalk at the time of the crash, police said, but the lights for the crosswalk were not working at the time.

The lights have since been confirmed to be working, police said, and it's under investigation as to why they weren't activated at the time of the accident.

Officers were nearby at the time of the crash responded quickly. Medical personnel arrived and took the individual to the hospital in critical condition.
