PORTLAND, Maine — Susan’s Fish N Chips, a local favorite on Forest Avenue since 1989, will close its doors on Oct. 30, the owner announced.

In a statement to customers on social media , owner Susan Eklund said rising costs, including wages and supplies, have made it increasingly difficult to continue operations.

“We are saddened to have to close, but times have changed,” the statement read. “On behalf of everyone at Susan’s, thank you for your loyalty and support over the years. It has been our pleasure to serve you.”

The announcement also included gratitude for longtime employees, noting their dedication throughout the restaurant’s more than three decades in business.
