ST PAUL, Minn. — A man is now charged with two counts of assault after police say he shot someone who was arguing with a man at a wedding inside a park in Maplewood.

The criminal complaint against 33-year-old Stephan Andrew James of South St. Paul details the allegations against him in the Sept. 27 incident at Kellar Lake Regional Park.

Maplewood police squads were dispatched to the park just after 5:30 p.m. that day on reports of a shooting. Responding officers found a man with gunshot wounds to both legs, and learned Samaritans had removed their belts and used them as tourniquets to stop profuse bleeding.

The victim was still conscious, and told officers that he had been shot by a man with gold teeth who was driving a Dodge Durango. The complaint says the victim, identified only as
