LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln homeowner called authorities Friday afternoon after he found a potentially live grenade in his home.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue were in the area near 70th and Cuming streets around noon.
Bill McFarlend, who was having a garage sale at the time, said he was unpacking items he bought from a storage unit auction in his home and found a hand grenade with a pin in it.
“It occurred to me that it might be live and very dangerous so we called the police,” McFarlend said.
LFR and the bomb squad arrived on scene to investigate.
McFarlend is unsure which unit the grenade came out of.
“These storage unit auctions, you often come across a lot of different items, contraband and things like that,” he said.
