NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- One organization is aiming to help end childhood poverty by giving direct cash payments to new mothers with no strings attached.
The Bridge Project provides new parents with both monetary support and community resources during pregnancy and after giving birth. Applications opened on Wednesday for New Jersey residents to win three years' worth of cash payments.
Participants will be selected using a lottery system after application spots are filled, according to The Bridge Project's website. To be eligible, prospective applicants must: • Be at least 18-years-old • At most 23 weeks pregnant • Make less than $44,000 annually • Live in either the cities of Trenton, Paterson, or Newark, or in the counties of Gloucester, Salem, or Cumberland
