A little more than a week ago, Elizabeth Feagans says her 10-year-old son, a student at Mack Benn Elementary School in Suffolk, came home from school trembling and in tears. He could barely tell his mother that another student had assaulted him on the school bus.

“He was trying to explain that he had been punched and basically stomped on on the school bus,” Feagans said.

Feagans said she received no word about the incident from the Suffolk Public Schools and said her son exchanged some words with an 11-year-old on the bus before the 11-year-old started punching and kicking her son.

Feagans said she immediately took her son to the hospital, and doctors transferred the child to CHKD.
