ALDEN, N.Y. — A Wende Correctional Facility officer was sent to Erie County Medical Center after she was exposed to fentanyl, according to New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association.

NYSCOPBA Western Region Vice President Kenny Gold said the 55-year-old officer was opening cells for inmate recreation when she became dizzy and nauseous. Other officers noticed her condition and called for medical assistance. She was brought to the facility's emergency room for around two hours before being transported to ECMC.
