(WJET/WFXP)-- Construction work to rebuild the Jordan Road Bridge has wrapped up a little more than two months ahead of schedule, with the bridge now open to traffic, PennDOT announced Friday.
The newly rebuilt bridge running over Interstate 90 opened for the first time since the end of March, with the original expectation of being done in December.
The old bridge was described as being in poor condition and stood more than a foot shy of Pennsylvania's bridge clearance standards for westbound traffic.
While the construction work on the bridge is done, PennDOT said crews will still be on hand to pave the shoulder, install a high-tension cable barrier, and new signs and a guide rail. Drivers should be alert for temporary lane restrictions on the interstate near the bridge and occasional n
