There were emotional scenes among the scores of people who gathered in the rain this afternoon (October 3) for a vigil to the victims of the Heaton Park synagogue attack yesterday.

The incident at Heaton Park synagogue on Middleton Road tragically claimed the lives of Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Opening the speeches at a community vigil held this afternoon, rabbi Daniel Walker recited prayers and held a moment's silence for the two victims.

Paying tribute, he said: "We remember Adrian and Melvin, two truly wonderful and special men whose lives were snatched from them, as they tried to pray as Jews on the holiest day of the year.
