ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man has been arrested after two pieces of construction equipment vanished from the work site of a future Buc-ee’s in Monroe County.

Homer Roy, a 35-year-old from Fairburn, faces two counts of theft by taking.

Monroe County deputies were called to the site on Rumble Road off I-75 on Sept. 25. Workers said two skid loaders, which are compact vehicles with arms that can attach to buckets, were missing.

Investigators said they found one of the missing loaders in Manchester, while the second was recovered in Riverdale.

The case remains under investigation.

Scheduled to open in 2027, the Monroe County Buc-ee’s will be the state’s fourth. Others are Calhoun, Warner Robins and Brunswick.
