WINONA, Ohio (WKBN) - If you want a hamburger or steak, it's going to cost more. Beef prices are surging.

Ground beef, the #1 seller at Winona Frozen Foods. Much of it is sold in 3-pound boxes of patties already made. The new price of $5.99 a pound is catching attention.

"The grumble is price, because we're not where we were last year, as far as pricing goes, or the year before that and year before that," said Brian Cunningham, owner of Winona Frozen Foods.

During the first six years Cunningham and his family owned the store, the price never crossed $4.99 a pound. It's still sold 1,000 pounds of ground beef this week, but the price surge may not be done.
