AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Brandon Wilde Senior Living Community hosted its third annual ‘People of Parkinson’s Walk’ on Friday.

The event allows seniors, many of whom are unable to join the official walk on Saturday , a chance to participate, stay active and show their support for the Parkinson’s community.

Residents and team members also collected donations through a “Paper for Parkinson’s” campaign, surpassing their $4,000 goal.

Officials say in total, they raised more than $6,000.

A Georgia-based nonprofit is stepping in to make sure people don’t lose their independence while red tape keeps them waiting.
