RALEIGH, N.C. (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart will open a 1.2 million–square-foot fulfillment center in Kings Mountain, N.C., with an estimated investment of $300 million and the creation of more than 300 jobs.
The facility, expected to open in 2027, will ship large items such as patio furniture and lawnmowers with next-day delivery, according to a news release.
“North Carolina offers global companies like Walmart a friendly business climate, strong workforce development programs, and a transportation network tailored to their logistics needs,” said North Carolina Josh Governor Stein. “These advantages, and more, make North Carolina the top state to do business in the country.”
The project is supported by a 12-year Job Development Investment Grant, which may reimburse Walmart up to $3.67 million
