BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- In Brownsville, Brooklyn, a community is speaking out after an 11-year-old boy vanished from his home this week.

PIX11’s Cory McGinnis reports neighbors believe warning signs were visible long before police arrived.

Neighbors in Brownsville say they’re heartbroken and worried, and some are worried that the mother might have something to do with the boy’s disappearance.

On Wednesday, October 1st, police responded to a request from the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to conduct a wellness check at 614 Howard Avenue for the child. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the location, but the boy was not found. The investigation remains ongoing, and no one is in custody.

For neighbors, the disappearance feels both heartbreaking and frustrating.
