GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — For the first time in twelve years, the city of Greensboro is looking to have a new mayor after Nancy Vaughan announced she would not be rerunning.

Four candidates who have each called Greensboro home for all of their lives are running to be the next mayor of Greensboro.

One common goal for Robbie Perkins and Mark Cummings is economic development.

“We need more houses we certainly need to upgrade our downtown because all these people are going to want to do things on their off time. They’re going to make money at all these great jobs but what’re they going to do when they’re not working?” said Perkins.

Cummings says he’s lived in every district, so he sees a different opportunity for development in another part of the city.
