CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - On average, two dozen people are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner each minute in the U.S.
According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline , that adds up to more than 12 million women and men in a year.
Jessie Green is the case manager at Safe House of Southeast Missouri’s outreach office. “I meet with anybody coming in, who either needs to seek shelter and needs somebody to talk to in person, or maybe didn’t need that shelter option but still wants those services.”
Those can include applying for Medicaid or food stamps, safety planning, referrals for help, and other kinds of support.
