A Teesside pizza shop has been told that ‘urgent improvement is necessary’ following a zero food hygiene rating. Inspectors who visited Papasallis Pizzeria found watered down soap at the kitchen basin, “dirty wiping cloths and sponges” in the food preparation area and “dirty” dough mixer and roller; food storage containers and heavy duty tin opener.

“It was apparent during my inspection that the level of food hygiene awareness amongst you and your staff was inadequate,” a report provided by Stockton Council states. The Stockton takeaway left cooked chicken pizza topping to cool at room temperature in the kitchen for an “excessive amount of time”.
