Volunteer fire departments in America raise money in different ways, such as Bar-B-Ques, Yard Sales and Raffles.

West Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department raises money for operations and does it well, with BINGO games.

With an open date for Tennessee football in mind, this Saturday will be no different as the West Hamblen VFD will host a BINGO Fundraising Tournament. Doors will open at 3 p.m. with game play to begin at 5 p.m. There will be a limit of 400 players with no one under 18 allowed to attend.

WHVFD Chief Mark Hickman said that each fire department is allowed to conduct one gaming event each calendar year. Despite this, West’s BINGO facility, one of the better facilities in the area, is used several times a year by other nonprofits.
