Tolleson Police said officers are searching for a man suspected of an attempted child abduction on Sept. 29, department officials said.

At about 3:35 p.m. near 87th Avenue and Van Buren Street, a man approached and grabbed a girl by the arm and attempted to pull her away, according to a social media post by the Tolleson Police Department.

The child was able to break away, and the man fled east down Van Buren Street, police said.

The suspect was identified by Tolleson Police, and officers were trying to locate him, according to officials. The suspect was described as a white man, 30 to 40 years old, with brown hair and brown eyes, and a full beard and goatee.

Sgt. Erik Mendez said the Tolleson Police Department could not release the suspect's name as of noon Oct. 3.
