D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto plans to run for the U.S. House delegate seat currently held by Eleanor Holmes Norton, sources told News4.

Pinto’s quietly been seeking endorsements from community leaders across the city and putting a campaign in place, sources familiar with Pinto’s plans told News4.

A formal announcement is expected as early as Monday.

Pinto did not respond to News4's request for comments.

If she does announce a run, Pinto would face fellow Councilmember Robert White, who recently announced his plans to run for the seat .

There have been multiple calls for Norton to retire at the end of this term. Some say the 88-year-old’s age impacts her ability to serve.
