Nearly 900 more workers have joined the picket lines for the B.C. General Employees’ Union provincewide service strike, as of Oct. 3.

More than 17,000 public service workers are now participating in the strike, which began on Sept. 2.

This follows a rally held on Wednesday (Oct. 1), where more than 2,000 union members filled the streets in downtown Vancouver.

In a statement released Friday (Oct. 3), the BCGEU said, “The rally sent a clear message: workers are united, the labour movement is mobilized and the urgency for a fair settlement is greater than ever."

The action includes strikes at more than 198 worksites, with 90 picket lines across B.C., including at the BC Liquor Store located at Peninsula Village.
