GREENVILLE, S.C. —
In the search for her biological family, one Upstate woman has created a space for others who were adopted to do the same. Catherine Smith grew up knowing she was adopted; she also knew her birth family lived in Greenville.
"You feel like a huge part of your life is missing," Catherine Smith said.
"She would walk down the street and say, I wonder if that was my mother or my father," said Carol Smith, Catherine's adoptive mom.
Catherine began her search at age 18, starting with just a newborn picture and a name on her hospital wristband.
"So, I would go to the Greenville Library and go through microfiche, and I did that from the age of 18 to 35," Catherine said.
