The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 4, with organizers sharing last-minute reminders and tips for attendees — as well as highlighting new aspects.
The drone light show during the evenings is "really exciting," as it falls in line with the theme of "Painted Skies," according to Balloon Fiesta communications manager Stephanie Kitts.
"We also have a special guest coming from Disney that I can't talk about, but it will be very exciting," Kitts said.
Parking lots will open at 3 a.m. Gates open at 4:30 a.m.
Everyone is required to go through a metal detector, and there are strict prohibitions on firearms, weapons, drones, and glass. Bags do not need to be clear, but they will be checked. A full list of prohibited items can be found here .
