LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced Friday who will be Jefferson County's new clerk and sheriff after the civil servants who previously held both offices died last month.

On Sept. 10, Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw at the age of 81. She had served for 27 years, first taking over as County Clerk in 1999.

Just two weeks later, Jefferson County Sheriff John Aubrey died at the age of 86. He had also first taken office in 1999, serving a total of 27 years as sheriff.

“Sheriff Aubrey and Clerk Holsclaw were legendary public servants who each dedicated almost 30 years to our community, helping to keep us safe and our elections free and fair,” Greenberg said. “Today, I’m honored to appoint two dedicated public servants to these positions.”
