LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The city of Jeffersonville welcomed the community back to its yearly Steamboat Nights festival Friday evening.
Assistant parks director Amber Ridings says the festival has gained lots of traction since coming back for its second stint more than a decade ago, and has now become the largest event in the city’s calendar.
“This was a steamboat kind of town, and we’re still honoring that legacy by having this festival,” she said.
But the likelihood of this celebration returning to Jeffersonville is uncertain, due to property tax reform in Indiana.
Back in April, Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed Senate Enrolled Act 1, aimed at cutting down property taxes for homeowners. But, in turn, towns losing that previous tax base are bracing with budget cuts and are left with
