UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research and five co-plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court against Huntington Green Apartments and its affiliate owners and managers for an alleged ongoing pattern of discrimination against applicants with housing vouchers in violation of University Heights’ source-of-income ordinance.
University Heights City Council, in 2019, amended its housing ordinance by prohibiting landlords from discriminating against tenants and applicants based on their source of income, including use of a housing voucher.
The amendment was meant to ensure that families receiving government housing assistance have access to safe, affordable housing on equal terms with other residents.
