KENTUCKY, USA — Thousands of low-income families across Kentucky will soon receive less financial assistance through a state-run program.

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services said monthly payments from the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program will be reduced starting Nov. 1 because of rising demand and budget limits.

KTAP is funded through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) grant.

“Costs exceed the total amount of the grant, requiring us to rebalance those payments,” Governor Andy Beshear said during his Team Kentucky meeting on September 25. “We’re going to be sending notices out to these families about what they’re going to see.
