KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person is dead after a wrong-way driver crashed on northbound I-29 between Vivion Road and US Highway 169 Saturday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) confirmed.

MSHP says that northbound I-29 is closed at North Oak Trafficway in Clay County while the investigation continues. It's unknown how long the roadway will be closed at this time.

MSHP also confirmed that the wrong-way driver was the suspect in a previous police pursuit with the Gladstone Police Department.

Northbound I-35 or the Davidson Road exit can be used as alternative routes.

This is an ongoing investigation; FOX4 will provide updates as they're made available.
