MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A downtown Madison favorite known for its color, creativity, and handmade jewelry will soon close its doors after 35 years on State Street.

Tropic Jewel, a bead and jewelry shop just steps from the University of Wisconsin campus, will close at the end of October.

“We’ve been very sad. This has been so much of our hearts have gone into this space for so many years,” co-owner Shelby Grote said. “There are lots of changes afoot and it seems that it’s time, so we’re just rolling with it. We still have a few weeks for people to come and hopefully enjoy things. That’s all we want — for people to come enjoy things before we’re done.”
