ATLANTA — Residents living at Conners Senior Village in Villa Rica said they are dealing with mold, unanswered maintenance requests and unsafe conditions.

For three months, Beverly Kempson said she was forced to eat out every day after a fire destroyed her kitchen in May.

"I spent, oh God, over $400," Kempson said.

She recalls the terrifying moment the fire started.

"I heard a voice, the Holy Spirit say, ‘Get up. Get out.’ And I was like, ‘What Lord?' Get out. The voice was stronger this time. Then I opened up my door and the kitchen was up in flames."

Kempson believes that voice saved her life. She said the building’s alarm and sprinkler system never went off.
