Using poetry and mockery, a hacker conglomerate uniting groups responsible for some of the world's largest, high-profile data breaches penned their retirement letter.

"Our objectives having been fulfilled, it is now time to say goodbye," they wrote.

Some were off to "enjoy our golden parachutes with the millions the group accumulated".

"Others finally will just go gentle into that good night," they said.

But despite saying goodbye in early September, cybersecurity analysts say their hallmark hacking techniques have been seen in fresh waves of attacks and extortion emails.

They warned that the "supergroup" of young cybercriminals dubbed the 'Trinity of Chaos' may already be back for the reunion tour.

Or, like many famous farewells, they never truly left.
