IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - A video game tournament meant a ton for one of the 64 participants.
The Iowa Hawkeyes got Saturday off, but there was still football at Kinnick Stadium, with the ‘Extra Life Charity Challenge’ EA Sports College Football tournament.
The participants and spectators helped raise money for the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. One of the participants was 13-year-old Cooper Estenson, who beat cancer last year.
The former Hawkeye kid captain says video games were a great distraction during his treatment; now he’s playing for kids like him.
“It just really shows that there are good people in the world that do care,” Estenson said. “It helps a lot. I don’t think people know that, but it helps a lot.”
