After a clunker in its previous high-profile matchup with Weddington , the Crest football team acquitted itself much better Friday night against Big South 5A/6A rival South Point.

“The Weddington game, we looked soft,” NC State recruit and Crest senior standout D’Various Surratt said. “We didn’t look like the Crest Chargers, really. So we had to come out and show that we’re really about it.”

A year after suffering a 27-26 loss in Belmont, the Chargers ensured there would be no late magic this time around, dominating en route to a 42-7 win.
